AND A FINAL WORD . . .

The Congregational heritage has proved to be stronger than I would have believed, and the ageing Congregations whom I have encountered during this project (in my ageing skin) have validated my childhood memory of Congregationalists as the best people on earth. As I have spoken with them, I have found them to be, almost to a (wo)man, courageous, sensible, funny, articulate, kind, and, as I so greatly hoped they would still be, people of integrity. I really cannot praise them, or our heritage, enough; it has been a great privilege to be able to talk with these people.

In the words of a participant: The people I remember as Congregationalists were second to none, they really were.

Indeed.
